a whitish appearance, and on exposure to the air, coagulated into a mass shewing that it contained much solid ingredients. Symptoms ?General appearance of the patient was lean and emaciated ; ribs protruding ; intercostal spaces depressed ; eyes ?nnken ; conjunctivie pale ; tongue reddish colored ; pulse weak and somewhat frequent; respiration bronchial, at times hurried ; prostration, inability to rise or stand, impaired appetite, disturbed sleep and slight diai'rhoea. The urine waa small in quantity, of a dull-pink color, indicating the expulsion of hematoglobulin by the kidneys. The specific gravity of the urine could not he ascertained on account of its thickness ; the addition of liqr. potassse created no change in its consistence, but admixture with nitric acid increased the thickness of the coagulum; on microscopical examination nucleated cells, single as well as glomerated. were observed.
